Stewardship Committee
Year in Review DRAFT
The Stewardship Committee work is systemic and holistic. Three areas of
responsibility include: Prayer, Education, and Organization. Continual
formation of the committee occurs through prayer and education. St. Joseph
the Worker has chosen to be included in a pilot program "Put Out
into the Deep" through the Archdiocese of Dubuque, and has been focusing
on plans and goals for the Stewardship Committee, Parish Leadership, and
the Parish at Large in each of the three areas of responsibility.
Prayer:
1. The Stewardship committee will begin each meeting with reciting of
the stewardship prayer, reading of the Gospel, with reflection and discussion.
Individual petitions will follow.
2. Parish Leadership: Meetings at St. Joseph the Worker will begin by
reciting the Covenant Prayer, or Stewardship Prayer. Reading of the Gospel,
with reflection and discussion will follow. A meeting was held on October
18th, 2006 to model this with committee members.
3. Parish at Large: The bulletin will include a stewardship reflection
each week. Fr. Mark talked to Dick Beaves about having the stewardship
prayer inserted in the back of the Missals. The Liturgy committee suggested
that the parish needs to look at other ways to engage the parish at large
in Prayer.
Further discussion required
Education/Formation:
1. The Stewardship Committee will include an education piece at each meeting.
2. The Stewardship Committee will support Pastoral Planning and attend
sessions with Jackie Witter.
3. The Stewardship Committee recommended involvement in the "Called
and Gifted" discernment program with the Archdiocese of Dubuque.
Members of this committee are on the parish core team.
4. The Stewardship Committee is becoming more educated on environmental
stewardship in an effort to be able to educate and engage the parish at
large on this topic.
5. Parish Leadership: Meetings at St. Joseph the Worker will include an
educational piece at each meeting.
6. Parish Leadership will attend and participate in Pastoral Planning
sessions with Jackie Witter.
7. Parish Leadership: stewardship committee members facilitated meetings
on
the USCCB's documet "A Disciple's Response".
Fr. Mark suggested looking at a format that can be placed on the parish
web
Site with information and questions. New committee members would be
asked to read and complete the questions. Diane Freiburger will look into
this.
4. Parish At Large: Each parish committee will have a poster identifying
the
Committee, its members and activities of the committee at the Octoberfest.
Each committee will also have a basket for sale at the committee booth.
This will be a yearly activity.
5. Parish At Large: The stewardship committee
supports EFFC and the
educational/formation activities EFFC offers.
6. Parish At Large: Once core team members are trained, the "Called
and Gifted program will be offered to members of the parish at large.
The stewardship committee will support the core team in this activity.
Organization:
1. The Stewardship Committee supported the parish staff in providing a
volunteer appreciation dinner. It is the recommendation of this committee
that this becomes a yearly event.
2. The Stewardship Committee developed a committee description.
3. The Stewardship Committee compiled a yearly review of the committee's
activities and remaining goals/activities.
4. The Stewardship Committee hosted the Regional Archdiocesan Stewardship
meeting, March, 2007.
5. The Stewardship Committee is developing a "Worker Board",
which would be a place for committees and staff to post individual "jobs"
that parish members would use to volunteer for activities.
This is still being formulated, and would be an ongoing Organizational
Activity for the Parish at Large.
6. Pastoral Leadership: Each committee will develop a committee description.
The description of each committee would be placed in a booklet for parish
members, and new parishioners. This activity is still being formulated.
7. Pastoral Leadership: Each committee will compile a yearly review of
each
committee's activities and goals. This would be included in the yearly
report
for parishioners and new members to see what the committee's do and are
planning on accomplishing.

all committees eventually collate information regarding their yearly activities.
This information would then be put in a user friendly, inviting packet
for all current and new parishioners to be informed on parish committees

We will table this discussion until Jeanne has received more information.
2. Review and discussion of SJTW parish leadership meeting from
March 19, 2005.
Jim Rhomberg presented a handout, formulated by Pastoral Council,
with goals and objectives addressing Stewardship within the parish.
Goal: All Parishioners committed to the support of the parish.
Objective: communicate the benefits of giftedness. We all need to
recognize that everything we have is a gift from God, and that we all
have a responsibility to share our gifts.
A. Training session for committees
There have been many training sessions provided by members of this committee
in the past using the United States Council of Catholic Bishops booklets.
Debbie Anderson will talk to Linda Manternach, Director of Stewardship
for the Archdiocese of Dubuque, to discuss other media available. Debbie
will also check to see if there is a list of active Faith Sharing Groups

B. Database
Once the data has been collected from parishioners, every parishioner
should be contacted to share their gifts of time, talent or

The data base software that the parish chooses needs to be accurate, updated,
and able to query specific data.
At the Regional Stewardship Meeting on February 8th, Resurrection shared
media they used for collecting data and contacting parishioners.
