About Outreach

"Parishes need to be bridge-builders, reminding us that we are part of a Universal Church with ties of faith and humanity to sisters and brothers all over the world....A key test of a parish's 'Catholicity' is its willingness to go beyond its boundaries to serve those in need and work for justice and peace" (U.S. Catholic Bishops, Communities of Salt and Light).

Catholic Social Teaching calls us beyond the geographic boundaries of our own parishes and beyond the barriers of race, ethnicity, gender, economic status and nationality.

St. Joseph the Worker Parish is committed to building relationships with many individuals and with other communities in our city, in our diocese, nationally and internationally. We minister to a number of individuals and groups throughout the year. As we celebrated our Jubilee Year, we sponsored the building of a Habitat House here in the community.

The committees and organizations in the parish that are committed to ministering to need and raising awareness are described in this section of our site.

For more information about these committees and to learn how you can assist us in "building bridges" please contact the chairperson of the committee you would like to join or, contact the parish office at 563-588-1433.
