Social Concerns
"Every
time you sacrifice something at great cost - every time you renounce something
that appeals to you for the sake of the poor - you are feeding a hungry
Christ. You are clothing His nakedness. You are offering shelter to a
homeless Christ. Every time we are concerned about the poor - whether
they are near or far away - we do it all for Him."
Mother Teresa of Calcutta

What
Other Projects are We Involved In?
Food
baskets are organized and delivered to families at Thanksgiving, Christmas,
and Easter.
- A Giving Tree brings joy to many during
the Christmas season and in the summer when we sponsor "Christmas
in July" to help with school expenses.
- Meals are prepared in our school kitchen
and served at the Dubuque Rescue Mission and St. Patrick's parish.
- A food pantry is stocked throughout the
year by the students at St. Joseph the Worker school and through collections
of food in the vestibules. We share with families within our own community
and those in the Dubuque area.
- We are represented at the Dubuque Area Congregations
United (DACU)
- School supplies assistance is given to Lutheran
Social Services.
- Pre-made, nutritious meals are prepared
and given to several individuals every month.
- Social rights issues are discussed and appropriate
actions taken as they are brought to our attention.
- We offer a forum for people from various
charities to give informative presentations on their needs and goals.
How
Can We Work Together?
Our committee's efforts can only
be accomplished with generous gifts of money and time from you. We are
grateful for all the help we receive.

Please notify the parish office of any need
of which you are aware. We don't know how we can assist until we hear
from you.
Meetings are held on the second Monday of every month, 7:00 PM in the
school gym meeting room. New members are welcome at any time.
If you would like more information on the Social Concerns committee,
please contact the parish
office or call 563-588-1433 and someone will put you in touch
with a committee member.
I assure you, as often as you did it for
one of my least ones, you did it for me. Mt 25: 37-40
