Requirements Of Candidate

Archdiocesan conditions for reception of the sacrament:

A candidate must:

  • Be baptized in the Catholic church.
  • Be properly instructed.
  • Have the use of reason and ability to renew his/her baptismal promises.
  • Be a minimum of 15 yrs. of age by September 15
  • Be a registered member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish.

Candidates Preparation Process:

Candidates with the group will:

  • Participate in two interviews
  • Participate in all Meetings (4 large and 4 small group)
  • Participate in the Call to Commitment
  • Attend the overnight retreat
  • Attend the Archdiocesan Youth Rally
  • Offer service to the community as much as possible to give
    witness to your commitment; write reflection responses to each
    service experience, a minimum of six. Turn in reflection papers
    by designated deadlines.
  • Return sponsor and name form
  • Write a letter to Father Mark Ressler stating why they wish to be confirmed.

Candidates as individuals will:

  • Develop your personal relationship with God through personal
    prayer and celebration of the sacrament of Eucharist and
    Reconciliation.
  • Prepare for study sessions by reviewing material from last meeting and prepare suggested exercises & reflection.
  • Make a personal decision to receive the sacrament of Confirmation.
  • Offer service to the community as much as possible to give witness to your commitment; write reflection responses to a minimum of six service experiences.
  • Turn in reflection papers by designated deadlines.
  • Four of the service projects must be with the Confirmation class, youth group or parish, to create the environment of community.
