Confirmation Program Goals

Overall Goal:

The candidates will commit themselves to a fuller life as a Catholic Christian by strengthening and completing the sacraments of initiation.

By participation in the immediate phase preparation process for the sacrament of Confirmation, the candidates will:

1. Be able to name and work at deepening their personal relationship with Christ, the visible presence of God.
  • By participating in the study sessions.
  • By participating in the retreat and other liturgical experiences.
  • By participating in the sacraments of the Eucharist and Reconciliation with some regularity.
  • By personal prayer.

2. Enter into participation in the learning process at various levels in order to experience God's life and the power of the Holy Spirit within their lives.

  • By questioning and searching in their personal spiritual growth.
  • By openly sharing faith issues and their life experiences through the discussions and prayer in the study sessions.

3. Develop a sense of community through sharing in Christian life
and service.

  • By choosing individual service projects.
  • By reaching out to the needy of various ages by participating in service out reach with parishioners.
  • By sharing in liturgical ministries in the parish.
  • By writing reflection papers on service experiences.

4. Discern a personal decision of commitment to the Church by
choosing to be confirmed or not to be confirmed this year.

  • By making a personal decision through education, dialogue, prayer.
  • By entering into dialogue with parents, sponsors,catechists, peers.
  • By participating in all aspects of this immediate preparation.
