Sacraments of Healing

Reconciliation The Sacrament of Reconciliation, sometimes called the sacrament of penance or confession, is intended to assist the Christian in becoming more Christ-like through the forgiveness of sin. This sacrament can be celebrated on Saturday from 3:30 - 4:30 pm, Tuesday and Thursday mornings prior to the 8:00 am Mass and any time by appointment.

First Reconciliation is ordinarily celebrated when a child is age 7 or 8. It is celebrated prior to the child's celebration of First Eucharist. Celebration Date for 2006: January 28, 2008 at 6:30 pm.
Preparation: The special preparation for this Sacrament again involves both the parent and child working together. For more information contact the Religious Education Office.

Anointing of the Sick This Sacrament is for all who are seriously ill, physically or mentally, and for those who have special need, such as prior to a major surgery. It is celebrated communally twice a year (during the Fall and Spring seasons), but can be celebrated any time by request. If you know someone who is ill and would like to be anointed contact the parish office or call 563-588-1433.
Preparation: The proper preparation for this sacrament is regular participation in parish life and the instruction received through weekend homilies and our parish celebrations of Eucharist. A genuine desire for healing and forgiveness in this particular instance is also important.
